SPP is open for Fan Letters

Got questions for these guys?

Now you can have them answered!

It has long been a tradition of comic book companies to have fan letter pages where fanboys (and girls) can ask questions, make comments, or just voice their adoration for their favorite artist and writers.

SPP would like to carry on in this tradition and now is your chance to get your letter printed in a comic! Are you a Jack of Spades fan? Source Point Press will soon be releasing the comic book “Source Point Presents #1," which will showcase short stories involving characters from the Jack of Spades universe. You’ll see some familiar faces from the pages of J.o.S., and you’ll also meet brand new characters that expand upon the universe! If you’ve read the Jack of Spades #0 issue, then you’re familiar with the character “Plasmaster” and the epic showdown between him and Spade. Source Point Presents #1 will feature a Plasmaster prequel story! Do you have any questions or comments about Plasmaster or the Jack of Spades universe? Now’s the time to write us and ask! We will be featuring some of the fan letters in Source Point Presents #1, as well as having Jack of Spades and Source Point Presents writer Trico J. Lutkins replying to them. Send your letters to us here on Facebook, or email them to us at sourcepointpress@gmail.com. Put “Fan Letter” in the subject line, and make sure to write “OK to print” after the letter, as well as your first name and your city and state (and country if you’re outside the US). We will not print any full names, just your first name and where you’re from. If your letter will end up being printed in the comic, we will most certainly let you know.

Meet SPP Mondays: Nightforce

Source Point Press is proud to announce that it will be releasing a new ongoing series, Source Point Presents. SP Presents will be in the tradition of Dark Horse Presents and Marvel Comics Presents.  Each issue will introduce readers to new characters and will explore established characters more in depth. Source Point Presents will be part of the Jack of Spades universe

One of the featured heroes in issue #1 will be Nightforce!

Nightforce was a brilliant mechanical engineer who walked away from a promising future when he learned that the alien technology that he had reverse-engineered was not going to be used to save lives or for the betterment of mankind, but instead it would be used for military applications.

Now, he uses his exo-suit, rocketpack and other inventions to become a vigilante, roaming the night skies.  A force for good against those that would use their power to oppress the weak... The Nightforce!

Meet Source Point Mondays: Aisha

Source Point Press recently had the honor of having one of fans cosplay the title character in our flagship comic series, Jack of Spades. Not only did she do an amazing job bringing Jack of Spades to life, but she also  introduced the character to many new fans at the MCM Expo in Glasgow, Scotland. We are forever indebted to Aisha for choosing one of our characters to cosplay and for being such an awesome fan. Here's a little more about the amazing Aisha.

Aisha is currently a student and is from Scotland. She said she became a fan of SPP because "I love all things horror including old movies, new movies and books. which drew me to Source Point Press' books and collections of short stories. I discovered the Jack of Spades and instantly enjoyed it! Another SPP work I enjoyed was A Curious Volume of Forgotten Lore as I love Poe."

Hard to believe from the photos but this was her first time cosplaying.

This cosplay (see photo) was for Scotland's MCM Expo in Glasgow in September.

Aisha mentioned "Although new to cosplaying, from making the costume to wearing it to MCM the whole experience was a lot of fun and I look forward to doing it again! One is with Wednesday Addams, the other is with Jack and Oogie Boogie from Nightmare Before Christmas and the last one is me and my friends. "

Rampant

Official Press Release

Joshua Werner’s Rampant tells the Origin of Werewolves

Everything you thought you knew about werewolves is about to change...

Source Point Press has announced they will be publishing the horror novella "Rampant" by Joshua Werner, scheduled to be released in early September. Werner’s werewolf tale will kick off the beginning of Source Point’s fall releases of creator-owned books and comics, and an anthology of werewolf stories, poems, and artwork will be released soon after.

Joshua Werner is the author of The Brutality of Fact and Adoration for the Dead, as well as such popular short stories as Osiris and The Invention. After taking a hiatus to focus on his illustration work, Werner returns to the writing arena with Rampant. Set in the 18th Century Swiss Confederacy, Rampant tells the tale of a young man who stumbles upon a family’s terrible secret that will change his life forever, and will reveal lycanthropy’s true origins. “It’s a very ambitious story,” says the author, “and it dives deep into the roots of the werewolf curse, offering a brand new origin to the folklore that’s deeply embedded in our real history.”

Writer and literary critic Kasey Pierce (KosmicKasey.com) spoke enthusiastically of the book in the foreword she wrote for Rampant. “Joshua Werner’s tale of tragedy, heartbreak, and bloodlust is an outstanding homage to the Gothic era of horror,” she said. “His literary descriptions created a realm that devoured my senses and left me hungry for more.”

“While this story is most definitely a werewolf tale, fans of classic horror will be interested to learn that Rampant also ties in seamlessly with Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein,” says author Joshua Werner. “The story takes place in a small village that lies between two of the primary locations in Frankenstein, Geneva and Ingolstadt, and takes place during the same time.” Fans of Mary Shelley’s classic can expect to find multiple nods to her tale in Rampant, “and perhaps more,” says Werner.

Accompanying the story are multiple illustrations drawn by the author, done in a style similar to woodcuts of the time period, as well as a map of the village highlighting locations pertinent to the narrative. There are also two afterwords by Werner; one discussing the story’s connection to Frankenstein and another that separates the facts and real history within the story from the fiction.

The book will be available for sale on Amazon, Storenvy, and other online retailers first, followed by select stores shortly after, and the first signing will take place at Grand-Con in Grand Rapids, MI Sept. 19th. More information can be found at www.SourcePointPress.com, www.twitter.com/SourcePtPress, and www.facebook.com/SourcePointPress.

For any questions or interview opportunities, please email the author at asfallleaves@gmail.com or the publisher at sourcepointpress@gmail.com.

Friends and Fans Fridays

The SPP fanbase is growing everyday.  This awesome dad (who is also the creative mind behind the comic series "Up the River") was showing off his "pointer pride" with a great T-shirt featuring the artwork of Diana Busby from the book, Weird Little Kid, written by David C. Hayes.

Meet SPP Mondays: The Dazzling Diana Busby

Many of you have seen our booths and tables at conventions and you have probably meet the co-founders, Joshua Werner and Trico J. Lutkins.  Some of you may have even meet our elusive (and alluring) intern, Jaimee.  However, Source Point Press owes a big part of its success to the artwork and hard work of Diana Busby.  She has contributed her mad talents to artwork in Delightfully Wicked Poetic Tales, Alter Egos Volume I, Alter Egos Volume II, and Weird Little Kid.  When she's not creating brilliant works of art, she's lending us her graphic design skills and helping some of our not-so computer savvy artists transfer their artwork into digital files. Diana's skills stem from not only her raw talent but also from studying sequential art at Michigan State University.  When she's not creating awesomeness for Source Point Press she's drawing amazing images from her wonderfully creative mind for her own company, Wan-Tsunami Illustrations.
