Dancing Devil Dermagraphics to Hold Comic Con in Marysville July 19th
Dancing Devil Dermagraphics, LLC, is a unique combination of a tattoo studio and art gallery located on Gratiot Blvd in Marysville. The front half of their business is full of artwork and handmade gifts created by local artists, and to extend their love of artwork of all forms and their outreach to the artistic community, they’re holding the Dancing Devil Comic Con Saturday, July 19th. From 1pm – 9pm owners Matt and Ann Littke welcome the public to come meet creators of books, comics, trading cards, and video games. The creators will have merchandise for sale and will be discussing the creative process with customers throughout the day. This event has no admission charge and welcomes children and adults of all ages.
To put together this event, Dancing Devil Dermagraphics teamed up with local indie publishing company Source Point Press. Art Director Joshua Werner has been in charge of organizing the guests. “Dancing Devil is a one-of-a-kind tattoo shop. They’ve always supported the local artistic community, and they’ve held several successful events in the past. I’m excited to be a part of this, and to get more people inside this amazing shop and for them to meet Matt Littke and see how friendly and incredibly talented he is. We’ve put together an awesome lineup of guests too, this is sure to be a great time!” says Werner.
Included among the guests at the Dancing Devil Comic Con is award-winning author and performer David C. Hayes. A well known creator in the horror genre, Hayes has well over 100 film credits on IMDB and has written dozens of books, comics, screen plays, and stage plays. Also, making a special appearance at this event is radio celebrity, author and performer, Jon King. He is the co-host of the “Mike and Jon in the Morning” show on 93.5 WHMI. MindFrost Solutions, a digital design group specializing in mobile applications and games, will also be at the convention and will be unveiling their latest iOS game for mobile devices set for release later this month, “Zombie Rush”. Demos of this free mobile game will be available at the event. Producer and Creative Director Eric Roman describes the game: “Run, jump, and slide your way through hordes of endless zombies as you try and outrun and survive the undead. The game features three artists, including guest and event organizer Joshua Werner, who tell the game’s story through a beautifully illustrated motion comic and four playable characters.” MindFrost’s team consists of industry professionals who have worked titles such as “Mortal Kombat,” “Quake,” and “Injustice: Gods Among Us.” Other guests include author and comic book writer Trico Lutkins, illustrator Jason Westlake, author and comic book writer Vincenzo Bilof, illustrator Aaron Trendy, cartoonist Jeff Sornig, and author and comic book writer Travis McIntire and illustrator Stephen Sharar of the Michigan Comics Collective.
